Hey John and all. Here is a brief write-up of my experience with the Mirror issue. Good news should always be cross posted, so i am also posting this on the FB page.
Just wanted to relay my recent experience with the NABCC car and Brooklin Models Ltd. service.
This will come full circle, but my belief for most consumer products has almost always been,
“I don’t really care if something is wrong with a product when I receive it, disappointed yes, but mad or angry, not so much. What I DO care about is how is the problem going to be resolved”.
Most of my life has been spent in the consumer electronics space and out of box failures was/is not uncommon.
Now that I am in the building and construction space I can for certain say, that errors/mistakes/failures do happen, and this is for US made products… before anyone chimes in about “Made in USA” BS. I am fortunate to now work for a boss that puts customers first and takes responsibility for mistakes… it is a refreshing change for me at least.
I received the beautiful NABCC Buick and like some, the mirrors and one door handle were broken and/or missing.
Disappointed yes, but I fired off a message to AMANDA at Brooklin Models and put the car aside. The message to Amanda was not to bitch and moan about poor product etc., etc., rather just the facts of what I received and what I expected. It may have been a three or four sentence message.
In any case, a day or two later Amanda responds of how and about when I can expect the parts AND how I might approach the repair. I did not ask for a refund or a replacement car, I just wanted the parts.
High level information was that she/Brooklin was aware of the problem and new parts were already being scheduled and replacements will be sent out as quickly as possible.
Yesterday I received a small package from Brooklin and in it were the well packed parts to make the repair.
BTW, the original packing was excellent, outer packing was fine and the car was screwed to a firm base, so I’m not really sure how the mirrors broke in the first place.
Moving on, I am now finished with the repairs, and I have beautiful car that will be used on the layout.
One message to Brooklin (Amanda) and the issue was resolved. That is what I expected and that is what I received.
Again, “I don’t care that there was a problem, but tell me how the problem will be resolved”.
I am new to Brooklin Models, but this will not be the last, and I will purposefully seek out Brooklin Models that fit my needs as a first choice from this point forward.
I know many great images of the Buick have been posted, but here is mine with the new mirrors and door handle installed.
