A few months ago I purchased a Lionel LCS wifi unit. Since then I have never got it to work. I use it with an Apple iphone 11 eleven, which it says it's compatible with but no dice. The wifi unit creates a network and I am able to connect to it with the phone and app but I could never get my TMCC engines to respond. I would like to point out, I primarily run DCS and Lionel Cab- 1L , I also do not have any Legacy engines to see if they would respond.
Also the Lionel icab does display error codes on the screen. On of which states" UPDATE BASE write to the base failed due to an error. Base record may not have been updated ERR Code 1.
Anyway I reached Lionel last week and I'm waiting on a call back. Just thought I would see if anyone on here had suggestions.

Missing some info here; do you have a Lionel Legacy BASE-2 hooked up via cable to the WiFi unit (I'm assuming you do)? Also I needed to update my Legacy base firmware to v.1.60 to get the WiFi to work.

Update: I contacted Lionel yesterday in regard to getting some customer support on the problem with the LCS wifi unit . The woman that answered took my name and phone number and promised a call back. This was the second time this has happened. Well I'm glad I didn't hold my breath because once again no call back. Its a true disappointment when a company makes a promise to call you back and they don't. Unfortunately, I don't think my problem will be resolved. Looks like I'm out $150 bucks or whatever it was. Nonetheless, this causes some alarm that a company that plans to bring the Cab3 to market and steer users to running trains with their phones can't even address an issue with the wifi and cab-1 app they have out now. I know one thing, this consumer is totally done with purchasing any product from them.

Since there is an update error saying it has failed, try updating it again. Has the update error appeared from the beginning of being unboxed? Did you try updating and then got this message? Curtis

I been getting the update since I unboxed it. My iphone connects to it, but it won't allow me to add any of my TMCC engines. One question I have is what to enter under the BASE DETAIL screen on icab app? It asks for a name , I am guessing either Legacy or Cab 1L .
