I got that too. I must say that this strikes me as about as appealing as MTH's new business model, and for some of us it would get very old very fast IF you didn't think it ups interest in the hobby. Can't tell what's new in 3.0 but I won't be rushing to find out.

I doubt this will be business as usual for Menards. These are beta test units. When they get to production I’m sure they will just be on their website alongside every other train product.
As for what will be different, we will see and soon enough there will be video reviews on YouTube. Hoping they improved the horn and bell sounds. Everything else seems to have gotten better with beta 2.

Once I get mine - I'll post here first -
I may not keep it - I really don't care for Western railroads - but we'll see. My cost was $195 with shipping and taxes.
LionChief is usually $100 more, so this is a bit of a bargain, at this point

I ordered one. Set it up for store delivery. I'll have number's 1 and 3 versions. I'll try to test both at the same time for difference's. Not sure if I'll keep both of them??

Looks like they sold out in one hour. Also, the price went up about $10 to $169. I thought it was $159 for the 1st beta version. I wonder what the price will be when they have a full production run. My guess is it might be around $200 which be approaching the price of Lionel LionChief.

Beta test #3? Methinks they doth milk the idea a little... Keep up the good work, Menards - the best entry level option in O Gauge, I reckon. Dave

Menards is a Midwest company so I'm gonna guess and say PRR is not on the list right away

I'm waiting for New York Central.
If all the bugs have been worked out, and it sounds like they have been, then I think we will see other roads in the not too distant future.
