So I have been looking at Brooklin models at various online auction sites, and I see that some of the older models appear to have tarnished grills, bumpers, etc. I used to detail 1:1 cars so polish and shine is quite important to me. Is there a safe way to clean (and protect) bare white metal on Brooklin models? Or is the "patina" of older models add to their charm? Are newer Brooklin models sealed/painted so this does not occur? Thanks for any insights on these questions.

Greg, just about any model will have tarnished-looking chrome bits if left out on display for a long period of time without a cover. They are easy enough to clean if they haven't gone too far. I use a few Q-tips and a barely-damp cotton towel to clean the chrome bits. If I can disassemble the model, the bumpers are a lot easier to clean. A super-fine polish like Simichrome will work as well.

Awesome John. Thanks for the tips. I am somewhat of a OCD perfectionist. And yes, I detail my model cars. I should do a video some time!
