I was in a local hobby shop today that had some used stock on the shelves. Found a MTH DCS Commander (50-1028) that was new in the box. The box was a little worn, but the item itself had never been used. Brought it home and plugged it in and all systems go. Paid less than 1/2 what these are selling for on auction site, else I probably wouldn't have even thought about buying it. It gives you most of the DCS functionality for up to 10 engines from a stationary position - it's not remote. Right now we run the seasonal Christmas layout with a conventional power supply (MTH 100 Watt with controller), so this would give us a bump up in functionality for sounds, lights, smoke, etc. on our small layout.

Bob, the DCS Commander is a great acquisition. It’ll make running trains more fun.

It’s a PRR Q1 in unskirted form. Made by 3rd Rail.

So after going on a binge for PS-1 boxcars in 2020, then 2 bay coal hoppers in 2021, I'm now building up a consist of covered hoppers. 2 latest are Lionel LOTS productions. The D&H PS-2 is a beauty all the way around while the GT (the ol' "new old stock; never out of the box") has loose trucks and little dings on one side of the hopper that indicate it was dropped. Nothing you'd see while it's running on the layout. When you buy older used stuff you have to expect as much. Last month I bought some Atlas switches that in a phone conversation was told they were used but had no broken pieces. Got them a couple of days later and almost all of the switches had broken parts including 1 that was missing a rail on the turnout. Who needs that 3rd rail anyways?

Two Crown Model products, a couple from a local railroad where I grew up(G&W) and a nice MTH Premier SP boxcar I picked up off another forum… Tom

Haven't taken a pic yet, but got the deal of the month last week. Found a R50B MTH premier reefer, Western Maryland in the dark pullman green to go with the premier Madison passenger cars from a couple years ago. It was on Trainz and I had enough bonus points built up to get the $55 car for a grand total of $1.88. Happy Day!!
