I hope all veterans had a great day yesterday. Thanks for serving and keeping us safe. I was 18 in 1968 and was in the first draft lottery. My draft number was 305 and I wasn't drafted. I considered volunteering but didn't though I don't think I would have passed the physical due to very poor eyesight.

Walter, what a fitting tribute to our vets. Andre Rieu, just terrific.

1st Marine Division, 7th Marine Regiment 1968-1971. My best to all veterans.
Yesterday we had the local group from Stand Down participate in some fun bowling and refreshments in our center. 42 vets showed up. One man was in a wheel chair and my wife was standing next to him. She asked how he was doing today and he responded, "Great, it's Veterans Day." He went on to tell her he had been in the Army for 15 years and was blown up by an IED, Improvised Explosive Device. Kathy wished him well and he moved on. Most of these men in Stand Down suffer terribly. They are alone, sometimes homeless and sometimes suffering from physical and emotional trauma. The group is a good place for them to share with each other. Every Monday holiday they come to our center and we host them. This one was special because it was Veteran's Day.

Thank you for serving. Respect to those who served in Vietnam and came home not themselves.

It wasn't till 3 years ago, that I even talked about my time. In the past, I just wouldn't talk about, or just walk away when there were discussions on Nam and time served. I was in the "Iron Triangle area". I never could understand as many others why we don't.
