Charlie had a chance to visit the Lionel display at Trainfest yesterday and Lionel had on display their new Hudson. Chalie said it was a beqautiful model in every respect.
Ryan Kunkle was showing it off.

I forgot to ask him last night, Marty. I will ring him up tomorrow and ask him to post some photos.

Hello guys, back from Trainfest and I am sorry to say that I did not have time to shot pictures, it really was pretty busy with the layout and I just forgot.
However, as Brian stated, it was very busy on Saturday, not as much on Sunday.
The show has taken a turn in recent years in that there are more kid friendly train attractions. There are still two buildings of layouts, but the slow change is noticeable.
With that said, in our corner of the universe, MTH, Lionel, Atlas, Kadee, Ross, LCCA, were all in attendance. It is pretty clear that HO dominates the field. Several HO announcements are held for this show to generate buzz.
The layouts are the main reason I like to attend, and the show did not disappoint. It’s always nice to see how others handle situations and gives ideas for future projects.
Our layout (Midwest Division TCA) was slightly smaller this year due to some members pulling out, but we still had a roughly 60 x 60 space filled with a folded over loop - if that makes sense.
The other area of interest for me is the continuing presence of the various historical societies. It seems every year there is one or two more groups that may not have attended in the past. The RR societies are a great resource and should not be overlooked.
For the most part, TMCC ran well but we experienced a problem with DCS. This venue is known to be especially hard on command control systems.
I wish I had taken some pictures to share and I do apologize as I do know the power of the picture!

Sounds a lot like the Amherst train show near me in Jan.
DCS doesn't do well when there's fluorescent lights in RF noisy venues like that. Were you using the app or the remote? If the remote, best to plug it in with a phone cable.

Hey Gary:
Yes, I think Amherst and Trainfest were at one time very similar, but from what I have been told, (and I have not had the chance to attend Amherst) is that Amherst is still more of a modeler show where Trainfest is slowly adopting a younger family focus. Nothing wrong with either, each show needs to stand on its own and if the demographic demands change then change it is.
As for DCS, I did not try any DCS at this show, mainly due to previous known issues, but the guys who did try did have the tethered remote plugged in. The funny thing is basically just a week before with “almost” the same modules, DCS worked fine.
As soon as the venue lights get turned on (or something else that we are missing) cell phones, DCS, sometimes TMCC, just become unreliable. In my opinion, we are also getting close to the maximum useful range of the systems.
I will say that the other three rail clubs who had much smaller layouts did not seem to have any issues. We generally get together with the other guys just to be sure we are not stepping on each other’s channel.
