Not only do your vehicle get weathered by snow, salt, mud, etc. during winter months, but also Santa Fe engines. I'm sure it's headed for a wash down before heading out again. Interesting photo. Also a bad wreck being removed.

Looks like the SF drove through the world’s biggest mud puddle! The crane photo is interesting. I wonder if you can control them with legacy?!? Emile

That wreck photo might be the inspiration for that Lionel accessory with the broken off SF cab being dismantled.

I am betting the F unit cab was cut off to make handling easier. If the frame was badly damaged/bent, it wouldn’t really be salvageable.
The dirty Santa Fe red bonnet engine looks more like a typical Southern Pacific locomotive. The SP had the reputation of having the dirtiest engines in the rail industry...
Looks like deferred maintenance is setting in....
