I've done a few things to improve the appearance of my Lionel Coaling Tower to more closely resemble prototype pics I've seen. What do you think?

Looks good. I redid my Plasticville coal tower also. Getting away from out of the box and repainting or weathering goes a long way into making them special. You did good, thanks for sharing.

Super job, Charlie. I liked the design of this coaling tower before, but much better now.

Changes made so far where the elimination of the red blinker on the roof. Replacement of the roof with one that looks corrugated. Washed with an india ink wash and further weathered with some weathering powders. I've also painted the roof on the hopper shed and will be weathering that too. BEFORE PIC PAINTED ROOF ON HOPPER SHED

Nice job on the Lionel tower. Is the intricate ladder work original to the model? (The plasticville coal tower looks great too.) I have one of these in a shopping cart but I don’t have a layout yet.... Tom The model looks much like the PRR coal tower at South Amboy NJ engine terminal...

The ladder is not my work. I did rust it up though!

That's great weathering! Not too overpowering... just a gentle aging. Perfect!

I like it. With the light weathering you can adjust it once you place it on the layout.

Both towers look so much better. Excellent work.
Charlie, you've taken a good Lionel model and made it even better.
Josef, weathering turned that common Plasticville coaling tower into a very nice model. It looks like you also added some lights to it.

I've probably known Charlies "train world" the longest and I can tell you boy has he advanced. His scenery was good, since then he has learned to lay GG track, learned to solder, Learned to spray paint, and now he is doing weathering. Good job old bean. Not to even mention ALL the train people he has met since that time. S.J.
