A neat little depot made by Chein as part of their ToyTown line: Nice lithography...not sure if this is a prewar or postwar item. Anybody?

Looks a lot like Marx buildings. Would go well with their trains and structures on a layout. Nice to see the toy-like stuff along with the scale models. It's where it all started after all.

I agree...the lithography here looks a lot like that found on the old Marx playsets. Those were great toys.

Hafner is another tinplate brand which hasn't been mentioned/illustrated.

Beautiful set. Were all of Hafner’s sets wind-ups?

Yes all of the Hafner trains were clockwork. Hafner and Flyer were originally together and then split into two separate companies in 1914. The early versions of both toy train manufacturers bear a strong resemblance to one another. I know I posted these two comparison pictures on another thread on this site but it is still worth seeing just how much of a resemblance there was with regard to a number of their offerings Flyer Passenger Car Hafner Passenger Car Earlier Hafner Set
