I like to say thank you for adding me to this forum. As some of you might know, I am wrawroacx on that other forum, but with this forum, I know I'll get much more attention then that other forum. Anyway, I like to say Welcome!!
So with that, here is my first video.
NS freight auto combo with #4000, #4002 & mid DPU #2699. And yes, a real train in my area runs like this set up in real life, just a lot longer!! The video below the layout video is video I recorded earlier this month of NS freight 316, which is the example of the same style train with freight & autos on the layout, accept shorter.
Anyway, thank you for adding me!!

How far is the drive from your house to video all those great run bys? For me, to get to the closest location, which is Madison, is a 20+ minute drive north for me straight up route 528. That's why I like it there. Plus both sets of mainlines run through there of CSX & NS. That's one lucky moment I got a video & photo of last year when NS freight 310 & CSX intermodal Q157, met at the same time in Madison. Attachments:

Great video and matching real life inspiration video. I guess the DPU is the Diesel locomotive in the middle of the train, but what does DPU stand for? Diesel Powered Unit? Something else? Why is it in the middle of the consist?

Why is it in the middle of the consist? Emile Distributed power unit. For heavy trains. DPU (Distributed Power Unit) A locomotive set capable of remote-control operation in conjunction with locomotive units at the train's head end. DPUs are placed in the middle or at the rear of heavy trains (such as coal, grain, soda ash and even manifest), to help climb steep grades, particularly in the West from UP

Why is it in the middle of the consist? Emile Emile, glad you enjoyed!! I'm here to help also. DPU stands for Distributed Power Unit. It's basically a helper unit, example like Horseshoe Curve. A dpu purpose is for to help assist the train up grades or hills. It also helps lighten the load up. Most times lately it's in the middle of the trains. But on occasion, also the rear.

Welcome Tom. I am another who loves the real train action. It helps to see the reality of railroading when modeling your own layout;
