Does the title of this thread sound familiar? Yes, it is a song title from the 50's. It was made famous by a group some of you may also remember, Somethin Smith and thr Redheads. Here as some of the lyrics:
It's only a shanty In old Shanty Town The roof is so slanty it touches the ground. But my tumbled down shack by an old railroad track, Like a millionaire's mansion is calling me back.
Well now, maybe some of our Milwaukee Road historians also remember the song for other reasons like this Shanty.
All right, nice looking possible accessory. Harry came across this when researching another Milwaukee Road project. He sent me that attached photos and asked what I thought of it. I told him, "if you build it. they will come." What do you all think?

"I'm sure if Harry builds it, it will be great addition to a layout."
That's what I told him, Walter. Small enough that most of us can find the space.

How appropriate, Laz. Gotta love the video.
Now who wants their own shanty?

I don't recall ever hearing that song or of Something' Smith and the Redheads, but a shack, especially a railroad shack, is something that I could easily squeeze in on the layout.

Joe, you were just a baby when this group was popular.
But, I do. When Harry told me about the Milwaukee Road Shanty, I immediately tied this song to this project.
One thing about it, you can at least understand the words compared to today's "popular" music, and there is a real tune to it.
