My take, it is. With the colder weather soon upon us and the inpending Christmas season rapidly approaching, our hobby is at a fever pitch in terms of activity. I don't think any other time of year can match it.
Your take.

That's probably true for a majority of casual model train operators. But for those of us who live and breathe this hobby there is no singular season for model train activity! It is fun to see the increased buzz during the holiday season, but it's just as 'buzzy' for me the rest of the year.

I guess its an exciting time as well. Halloween through Christmas seems like a fever pitch of things to do. But its up to you to slow down and watch the trains run. I know now that the sport activities have slowed down. I am looking forward to spending more time in the train room. After Christmas Day is a great time to enjoy the layout, family, and friends before the new year during the automotive shut down.

It is for me, now that the family "ship" is sailing upon smoother waters... finally. This weekend I will finally haul out the boats, winterize them and pop them in the garage. Come to think of it, the winterization can probably wait until late November if we want to travel to another lake for a Fall cruise. However, I have started the season early. I picked up some exciting acquisitions and just finished redistributing my power to the mains so I can accommodate more trains.

Love this time of the year. It is so nice to see all of the train activities increase in activity.

I run trains almost everyday. Sometimes I actually leave the house to run errands, work on the honey-do list or spend time with Mary. Even then I may run for a half hour or so.

In the colder months train time frequency certainly picks up for me, simply due to the nature (quite literally) of things. I do spent one or two evenings per week itnh cave during the summer though.

it is a great time of year for model trains especially the limited time of Christmas layouts that disappear after Jan-Feb of the new year. while not as cold as you snow belt states this morning we were at 46 degrees that's cool for south west desert temps.
