I recently done post on Menards as having some of best displays in their store at Christmas. There are some really Nice stores for Christmas Decorations. One that I have visited several times is in Pigeon Forge, TN called The Christmas Place. This is a large store. They have a nice Department 56 village Display. This is not only Christmas store all year round but they have hotel across the street that is decorated for Christmas all year around too! All their guest rooms are decorated for Christmas. I have tried to stay there, but it is difficult to get reservations as it is booked almost always especially at Christmas and on the weekends through out the year. I have walked through the lobby and its a beautiful Hotel. The hotel has a very high ranking. Here are some photos of Store during my visit a couple years ago. Outside G Scale Layout at the Christmas Place... Displays at the Christmas Place... The Christmas Place Hotel. These photos are from there website... Another Store that I heard about is a great Christmas Store is Northern Michigan called Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. They name themselves as the Worlds Largest Christmas Store. I have not been there and it is a long drive as it would be over night trip for me but maybe one day I will get chance to visit. Here is photo from their website... Do you have any Christmas Stores that you like to shop at or even visit during the year?

We had a Christmas store in Ottawa but it closed about 20 years ago. A real shame as it items from all over the world. I found this video. Enjoy!

That would be a wonderful place to spend a weekend. I wonder how they feel about having two large white dogs as guests.
There is absolutely nothing here in terms of Chritmas shops of any consequence. When I lived in Park Ridge, one of my hangouts was European Imports in Niles. Big year-round Christmas shop with nice folks running it. Lots of D56 merchandise and German Glass ornaments. Really miss having somethig like this.
But, you started the wheels turning about a trip to Pigeon Forge.

The Christmas Place is a place everyone should visit once in their lifetime. As to the Inn, one has to place reservation really far ahead especially during the season. At present from 23rd to 26 December only 2 rooms left. Not bad price with local, and what you can see. It is 209.00 a night. But worth every penny with the feelings one has when staying there and goes with you when you leave. Highly recommended, you won't be sorry.

Bronner's is in the town of Frankenmuth. They have some great places to stay if anybody decides to make the trip. Im about 45 minutes northeast of Frankenmuth. I have a guest room so that is also an option.

Out here in New England there is a furniture store chain that does a good job of making it a fun place to visit. Each store has a unique theme and generally have this feel that you are entering a town or different world. One of them will be running Polar Express in 4D (don't know what that is but I think I need to check it out). www.jordans.com/content/attractions/mom Another will be displaying the original Enchanted Village, something that had been a tradition in Boston for along time, but was forgotten until the Jordan company bought it at an auction. www.jordans.com/content/attractions/enchanted-villageYet another does what it calls the Enchanted Ice, basically an ice rink www.jordans.com/content/attractions/enchanted-ice

But, you started the wheels turning about a trip to Pigeon Forge. That has been our problem a few times when we had a poodle! They don't except dogs as their guests so we had to stay at another hotel nearby. There is a lot do in Pigeon Forge. It close to Gatlinburg so it is a scenic area with Great Smokey Mountains nearby. The only downside is its a tourist trap with lots of visitors in the summer. However, might be easier to get reservation then during the week. The Fall and Holiday season are probably more difficult as well as more pricey.

I will immediately put Pigeon Forge on my bucket list. What tipped me over the edge was Ken saying it’s near Gatlinburg, a place I passed through innumerable times in my parents’ Studebaker when they were “motoring” to points east ‘way back when. Specifically, in those days Gatlinburg was totally infused by cedar scented souvenir shops and is the only place I’ve ever known that smelled more of Christmas scented train smoke than anything else!

This is in my backyard so to speak (about 30 minutes away). It's a great store for sure! I've actually offered a tidy sum for that sleigh display. To date, the owner has not taken me up on the offer. I continue to insist.
