We like to treat ourselves to Russell Stover's Pecan Delights during Christmas week. Not a box at any of the usual retailers, none, zippo. Their candy inventory was the typical candy bars and not much in the premium candy inventory catagory. The boxed candy they did have that is typically on sale this time of year, is at full retail. I found this rather surprising and perhaps candy is not an "essential business" this year, so inventory is way down. No worries, this presents a wonderful opportunity for the smaller local chocolate suppliers. We have an excellent manufacturer/retailer in our area that is having a super Christmas season. So Pecan Delights have been substituted with some really good chocolates, actually better than those scarce Pecan Delights.

Retailers cut down on orders last spring, not knowing how COVID would effect Christmas sales. Christmas candy, Christmas lights, to artificial trees are n short supply. I was at Costco last week and they had no Christmas stuff out at all

Maybe they no longer do business that far North.

Brian, I was at my local Wegmans food shopping last night, they had Russel Stover boxed chocolates for sale, lots of them. I think you have Wegmans up your way, try there.

"Brian, I was at my local Wegmans food shopping last night, they had Russel Stover boxed chocolates for sale, lots of them. I think you have Wegmans up your way, try there." No Craig, we are very limited in the north country. But after a trip today to the candy manufacturer/retailer, we are really stocked up. So Russel Stovers loss this year. If I ordered them on-line, might get them for my Birthday in late January. Thanks for looking, Bill.

Glad you found a substitute.
You aren’t kidding about the postal and parcel services being log jammed, I have a couple packages that are three weeks late. It’s a good thing it’s nothing critical.

I am so sorry to hear Brian. That reminds me of Giant Eagle in Middlefield, they don't have hardly any Turkey's, Roasts, etc. I really want this year 2020 to be over with and lets all pray for a better 2021.

Tom, this is no big deal. I think Gary is correct when he said that retailers were hedging their bets and buying low for this Christmas. I was in Home Depot a couple of weeks ago and their Chritsmas items were virtually all gone.
In actuality, the trip to Havens was fun and we came home with some top-shelf candy. Their butter crunch, wonderful Maine taffy covered in thick chocolate topped with almonds, now we're taking candy. Blows a Pecan Delight away.
