To Christmas that is. Two days to go. Boy it goes fast. Seems like yesterday Hanukkah started. This month blows by so fast. I really need to stop and look around before I miss it. Trivia, what movie is the line from?
layout update: just got done with a work/operating session, yes at 1 am. Feels good to get something accomplished. Had to add more tracks to the turntable to accommodate all the new engines acquired over the years. I’ve maxed out turntable space and still have more engines than I can fit. Video coming soon. My legacy SW7 is now shorted to ground, great another issue to deal with but it has to get in line, a couple of repairs/upgrades ahead of it. Anyway happy Hanukkah and merry Christmas, may Santa be good to us all this year

It sure feels good to get to projects and finish them. We had an ambitious schedule of upgrades this year and finished them all.
Merry Christmas to all. I agree, this month has gone by so quickly.

Usually, after the Christmas/New Year holidays are over, I have the Allentown show, 3 weeks in Florida, and York to look forward to. Looks like none of that will happen. At least I can look forward to time at the beach with family.

Fun topic, Gary. We start our Christmas preparations early, some before it gets too cold for outside decorating, and the rest, because we enjoy the Christmas season so much. Never look at this as a chore.
For many years, I traveled heavily and getting home Christmas Eve (more than often early in the morning Christmas Day) was routine. So, I don't take Christmas for granted one bit. Now that I am retired, we really get to make the most out of the "Most Wonderful Time of the Year".
One Christmas Eve, my flight was delayed a couple of hours and we touched down about 1:00 AM. I told my wife not to wait up or drive so late to the airport (we lived about an hour from the airport), that I would rent a car. I had top business status with the Rental Car firms and called Hertz before the flight left to rent a car. I told them I would arrive late. I went directly from the aircraft to the rental car area. The place was dark except for Avis. I walked over to the Avis desk and the agent knew my name. He had overheard the Hertz agents say forget (they used other words) this customer, we're closing. The Avis guy knew I would be stuck at an airport that was basically closed. He decided to wait for me. My firm was a HUGE renter of vehicles and Hertz lost our business that Christmas Eve. Avis based upon my story gave this agent a big bonus and they got our account. The agent wanted nothing from me except a Merry Christmas wish. I will never forget that night.

What a great story Brian. That Avis rep really knew what customer service was all about. I expect he has climbed far up the ladder by now.

This thread made me think of that Christmas Eve. I was shocked when I walked through the doors to the rental car desks. You can imagine how I felt. The Avis guy was a real blessing that evening. He just wanted me to get home safe and sound. Priceless service. I ran into him every now and again, but he did eventually get a big promotion and they moved him. The first thing I did when I returned to the office after my Christmas vacation was to call the Avis VP of Sales. He called this agent personally that day. They obviously were pleased to land a large account, but just as pleased that an employee went out of his way to help a customer.
Good story with a happy ending.

That is what I call good news. And I know this feeling all to well. Get on the aircraft and I am on vacation until the New Year.

I’ve been off all week and have to go back Monday. For those in New England, enjoy the heavy rain and high winds on Christmas
