Judging by what I have seen (only videos) it’s good old fashioned toy train novelty - which always brings to my mind aquarium cars from way back when. I prefer my novelty on the rails rather than under them but I agree this product is a real crowd pleaser!

Can you easily turn off the lights? I could see this becoming more of a crowd-pleaser that I'd want to turn off some when running trains on my own.
I am still of mixed minds of all of the lights on trains now. While I like them, I fear that eventually I will come to hate them as they detract from my enjoyment of the actual trains. Already so many of the new Menard's buildings have bright lights, lighted animated signs, etc.
Until then though, I like them. Very cool and thanks for sharing. It will be neat to see what the Area 51 green lighted track looks like when those come in.

No separate shut off for the lights. They run off the same track power as the trains
