I had one of those tin Sears service stations. Can't remember who made it. I received it when I was around 3 or 4. Wish I had it now!

Next to Electric Trains, which every boy wanted for Christmas, I remember during recess on school grounds,Marx play sets were the 2nd most wanted. I know I wanted a Roy Roger Ranch and a Tom Corbett play set. Believe it or not, my sister wanted a Sears Service Station. She loved cars more then dolls.

When I would set up the trains with my friend down the street, he had one of these playsets that I always wanted as a kid... but grew up and I never got it:
These play sets and some Lincoln Logs would entertain for hours!

What I always found amazing with Marx years later was how inexpensive they were with the number of pieces and many times also paying royalty for name uses of their products based on TV shows or product names. There was a neighbor when I lived in Illinois, also a farmer who had an "O" gauge (O27) Marx set up in his basement that had a western theme with forts, buildings, western towns all based on Marx products. It was huge even having a farm set in corner. I wish now I had taken pictures of the layout, it encompassed almost his whole basement.
