Guys, I really have lost interest in Zoom. To me it's a serious pain in my butt. I'm very happy just chatting here. This time of year I have zero patience and I want to keep things as simple as possible. Maybe another time, but not right now.

No worries, Denny. The OGF is happy to have you participate here.

We do zoom with family members (PA, MA, AZ, Brazil) once a week. I limit my participation because my hearing, even with hearing aids, is bad.

Denny, I certainly appreciate what you’re saying. To be quite honest, I’m tired of seeing too many PIP windows on computer displays. I tolerate them, but I can’t wait until Zoom is part of our history. As a photographer, I’m put off by the poor lighting in people’s homes — not flattering to participants at all.
I expect it from everyday folks, but I’m so tired of professional broadcasts where remote participants have such poor lighting or aren’t looking their best. But that’s supposed to be in “vogue” now as an element of our new social culture. I guess it’s part of the “good enough” mentality. Just a pet peeve of mine I guess.

I don't think Zoom was intended for the pros. With the virus keeping friends apart it is a way to visit. Not ideal but I have been part of a few and it was really nice seeing friends that would otherwise not be able to assemble. My only real complaint is that only one person at a time can be front and center.

I hear ya' Denny. Zoom (or any other virtual meeting medium) is not my favorite way to make contact although it allows for contact in this contact-less world we have entered.

Denny we missed you last night. It was a lot of fun.
Check with Adam about some help. We use an I-pad and logging in takes about 30 seconds. I suspect that he will be able to solve the problem.
Merry Christmas

Zoom will never fully replace in person meetings, but it has made it possible to hold professional meetings during the pandemic when travel and togetherness are a bad idea. Most of our local conferences and even clinical rounds have used some version of Zoom and it's far from perfect, but it gets the job done. Enables physicians who are too high risk to be in the hospital to supervise residents and fellows (post MD trainees) who are at the bedside.
We use it to stay in touch with our son and his significant other in Denver, and our son and daughter-in-law right here in town. Better than telephones I'd say. A group of the old AOL on-line group meet monthly, as do the TCA listserv group.

I tried to sign up again. My tablet doesn't react well to the website and doesn't let me see what I'm doing.

I didn't see any options either. Moving right or left across the top I could see who was there. (with names)

Some folks experiencing trouble might want to check their computer operating system version. I recall several months ago Zoom updated its platform, which required a pre-req of a certain level of IOS, Mac OSX, and probably Windows too. We have a Mac computer in the house that still runs Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.8) which no longer supports the new Zoom platform.

I just tried again now I'm fed up. Way too much aggravation.
