Update. I got a message from someone on another forum that he knows someone that has this set for sale. I texted them and am waiting for a reply. I'm hoping it pans out. Will update again when I know more. Fingers are crossed!

I think I have been jerked around by someone. I have not gotten any response from this person since reaching out to him. Oh well the search goes on.

B & F Hobbies in RI sometimes has tinplate. Sometimes it takes awhile to reach Frank as he has other businesses. 491-782-6400.

One more lead you might want to explore… SideTrack Hobbies produced a special-run Christmas set when MTH ran their last bunch of 400E locomotives. As I recall, only 10 sets were produced. And they had one on display at York the last time SideTrack had a booth there. Don’t remember if it was the show before the pandemic or the first show after the pandemic. They didn’t attend the last show or two. So I’m a bit fuzzy when I last saw the set for sale. But you will pay dearly for it. Beautiful set though… as many of the special tinplate sets are.

They were modeled after the early electrics of the day. Like the NYC S1 and S2: Actually, the Standard Gauge #10 and "O" Gauge #254 and #4 were modelled more after the Milwaukee Bi-Polars. The deluxe version was the Standard Gauge #381. The S1 and S2 models were more like #250, #252 in "O" Gauge and #402 and #408 in Standard Gauge. The New Haven electrics were essentially the #253. The NYC Boxcabs were #248, #251 in "O" Gauge and #8 and #9 in Standard Gauge. Hope this helps some. Actually, given the technology and fabrication of the times (100 years ago now!) these are pretty good representations of the portotypes!

Sorry…. I overlooked that the OP’s set in question is O-Gauge tinplate. I immediately thought about the SideTrack Hobbies exclusive, but that’s Standard Gauge. My bad.

I have this set and several others all in brand new like condition with the extra baggage cars like on this one the Rudolph car as well as the extra tanker and box car on the freight set & extra Christmas box car on the smaller freight set. They were all purchased new then taken out of the packaging ran on an oval track for maybe 30 minutes and placed back in their original packaging and put back up in the closet. These are all in Ready To Run sets with track, transformers and remotes and are all the PS2 & 3 versions with Christmas themes and all in like new condition. They were all beautiful sets that I could not resist buying but I have not used them as I have many other train sets I use regularly. I may be willing to part with one or two of the sets if the price was right . I am interested in the 11-5505-1 set. It retailed for $499 when new. What is your price to sell? Where are you located?
