A/C D/C it doesn't matter as long as it can handle the voltage.

Make it easy on yourself. Flip the little plate over or sand the plate lightly and paint it. If you don’t need that little plate, toss it. The switch itself could care less which power is flowing through it. Like Sir James says, do not overload the switch.
