Biden an Amtrak evangelist, could be a lifeline for the rail agency in crisis. I sure hope so.

Eddie, I don't see your post as a political statement. It's well known that Biden is a big fan of Amtrak. If he does end up winning the election I think he would try to help Amtrak.

He might, if not too distracted by the socialists. But Congress might be a different story.

My personal experience with Amtrak's NE Corridor, Silver Meteor, Silver Star, Crescent, and Sunset Limited are all positive.

Only if Biden gets kickbacks or has investment in it somehow, just like all the other politicians who put money first America 2nd. Not sure what I think of Amtrak these days as the days are long gone when I rode it in the early 2000's. I do recall whenever the VRE between Fredericksburg VA and Alexandria VA was delayed or cancelled, we could always hop Amtrak for $1 more with your VRE ticket. In Texas, Amtrak gets the priority over freight, or did at one time (2003), but seemed it did not in Virginia (2005/2006)

Interesting thread. Amtrak IS broken on its overland or long-distance east-west routes. But in several of its north-south regional routes, it's a success. These successful routes include the Acela, and the West Coast routes of the San Diegans and Surfliners, the Capitol Corridor, the San Juaquins, and the Cascades (in the Northwest).
But whether or not Biden can enhance Amtrak in any way remains to be seen, along with the Congressional support he would need for it to happen.

Brightline in Florida is the model for the future of passenger rail in the USA. I hope.
