In my case, today it is a new clock spring for the old Durango. Not hard, but I have so much going on with the trains!!!

Being retired, Trey we can work the layout into most days without interference. Was not always the case. We spent the good part of three years doing a makeover of our home, but that is now behind us.The layout build then began and we were home free.

Even though we are retired we are amazingly busy, but we live on retired time, so it's different. It's generally not chores that keep me from running trains but choices of how to spend my time. Most days I can find some time to run trains.

Only time I can't is if my wife is working, she works online and the office is next to the trains, to loud .

I am retired too, but WIFE is still working so I became a full time HOUSE HUSBAND. Doing, everything from cleaning, laundry, dusting, cooking and all the outside work too. Mowing, clipping flowers back, cleaning ponds, cutting and hand splitting of firewood...my list keeps on going.

Let's see: work, kids, family, dogs, yard work, house related tasks, other hobbies (though that is decreasing and giving way more and more to trains) and, oh yeah, sleep. Don't get me wrong, it's all welcome and contributes to the spice of life. There really is only on thing in the world I like to do more than trains and that is spending time with my wife and my daughters. Even with all of that, I find a few hours every week to spend on trains.

Probable competition shooting sports. Some lasting 4 to 5 days at different State Matches and 3 weekend monthly events. Then cleaning and re-loading for next match. But, the evenings home and early mornings are devoted to my layout running. Running the layout keeps me sane especially after a wreck at these events.

As of right now. Yard work, bathroom demo, Keeping up with my Mom's yard/house work, other family responsibilities. I really don't get into the basement and working on the layout until after York but the time is limited until the yard is picked up for the winter. Then I have a pretty elaborate outside Christmas display that takes a week to put up around Thanksgiving and take down around New Years that keeps me busy.

I usually have a long honey-do list that somehow keeps getting things added to it. We have been in our current house for 9 years. It needed some work when we moved in. I'm still getting through the list of things we wanted changed after moving in! We have a large yard,a pool, two large decks and outside landscaping that keeps my spring, summer and fall tied up. Seems like winter has become train time.

daily need to do chores do them early in morning and if I run trains I never stop to work on train layout so I try and run trains after I have helped accomplish some scenery on layout as I do the carpentry aspect as well as the honey do's of what tammie needs me to make right now that is a porch swing that the frame is glued and drying. other times its a toss up of whom has dr appointments either tammie and I or my sister or our one daughter some weeks we are running all 4 to various appointments thus nothing gets done on the layout!

I bought a neglected Victorian home. This whole summer Ive been rebuilding the front porch. The railings, balusters and a lot of painting needs to be done before the cold gets here.
Then I should have time for the layout!!!
