Today you will see a new Tab at the top of our forum. "Hall of Fame"
Brian, Emile and I have decided to dedicate a space to honor the many members who have contributed so much time and energy to our wonderful hobby. Each year you will be able to nominate members, who you believe, should be honored for their dedication to the Model Train Hobby.
February will be our Hall of Fame month and we are very excited to honor so many of you who have joined us and helped make this wonderful forum and hobby grow. Below are the procedures and guidelines for nominating and awarding this honor.
OGF Hall of Fame guidelines
The O-Gauge Forum Foundation recognizes the value of members who have become highly competent in the Model Train Hobby. The Hall of Fame honors these members and encourages others to follow in their footsteps. Below are themes and ideas that determine who will receive this honor.
1. Competency is a standard that includes a variety of activities.
a. Members who have demonstrated successful renditions of model train layouts
b. Members who have achieved high levels of modeling techniques and share them with the larger community of members.
c. Members who support the O Gauge Forum Foundation both financially and by the gift of their time to support projects, present new threads, answer questions and encourage others to expand their knowledge or activities.
d. Members who have served in communities that actively support the Model Train Hobby, such as local model train clubs, or joined and helped organizations like the Train Collectors Association, Lionel Collectors Club of America, Lionel Operating Train Society, Amherst Railroad Society, Railroad Historical Museums and many more.
2. Specific guidelines for selections
a. February will be the official Hall of Fame month.
b. The membership will nominate members via a Hall of Fame thread on the forum.
c. The founding members will host a committee and they will designate a chairman to conduct voting on each nominee. After year one, the committee will also include the elected Hall of Fame members who will help determine the next group to be honored. The Managing members will not be on this committee.
d. There will be no more than 3 inductees annually.
e. Each inductee must receive 90% of the vote cast by the Founding members and previous Hall of Fame members.
f. The Inductees will be noted in the Forum Hall of Fame tab with the date of their induction and they shall receive a plaque commemorating their induction.
g. The Hall of Fame induction will be on the third Sunday in February.
h. Acting Managing Members will not be considered for the Hall of Fame until they become inactive.
