Some while back I posted here about Scott's passenger car offerings, which now include both scale and "shorty" or "O42" versions of three trains, including SP Daylight articulated cars. Haven't heard much about these since and I figured the reservations were only building up slowly, which might mean delay - or worse.
However, checking out another Forum I found this bulletin from Scott issued yesterday:
Folks, The 3 rerun Aluminum trains are a go. Including the 042 style shorter cars. In order of reservations: 1948 20th Century SP Daylight + 3/4 Dome to be announced. Ooops I just announced it. 1948 Broadway Ltd. Should be done with all 3 + Hiawatha Short 2nd Run by the end of 2021. The C&O L1 Hudson and Chessie Cars should also be in this time period. Scott
If you are a passenger car fanatic this is a big deal and not least because these will be aluminum cars that nobody else makes anymore. The 3/4 dome is a real surprise as that was a distinctive SP-built car that I think has only been made once in 3-rail O scale. (I didn't lobby Scott for this but clearly somebody has.) Streamliner Memories has a page on this car which collects some of the better surviving records: streamlinermemories.info/?p=1392. Well done (again), Mr Mann.

This is an HO version, which I am suggesting to Scott is a good specimen for research on his O scale product:
P.S. HO models are a good place to start researching passenger cars because, at least a few years back, the importers/manufacturers actually did their homework on the prototypes.
There are some variations of this kind of car (I think 7 in all) but the above is the one I hope he makes. Over the years there were lots of variations in the interiors, which I am as interested in as anything else. This staged publicity photo and another one from many years later might explain why:

It's definitely a beautiful car.

Just for update purposes, Scott decided to go with the longer, later 12 window dome cars because he could get more RRs/paint schemes out of them. Fair enough, they are still unique cars:

And Scott is taking orders for SD-40s in 20+ road names WITH DELIVERY IN LATE 2021.
These have been in the works for several years and will be welcome.

From the sounds of it, this is firming up even more. Get your reservations in now to make sure the road name you want makes the cut. Ferromex was a late addition and it looks like they'll be doing tunnel motors too in some roads like D&RGW.
