I have so much to learn about this tmcc stuff! Tom Well I stopped buying any more TMCC because I didn't want any more hastles with them . I'd rather spend the xtra and buy legacy (or lionchief). One of my tmcc's I just run in conventional because I have an intermintent reception problem running it in command control. I found if I start it running in conventional and then turn on my legacy controller for my other units it won't pick up the signal and will run fine. I few years ago I had bought a brand new tmcc unit that had crackling for sound right out of the box. The dealer took care of it but I had to send it back twice- I actually had to pay shipping 3 times, once when I bought it and twice to send it back. Works fine now. I've also had smoke unit issues with some tmcc units(my fault). I've only had one operational issue with a legacy unit that I was able to fix by replacing sound board. I know some people enjoy tinkering or fixing up and repairing engines I just like to run them . I've been handy enough to fix any issues that weren't under warranty. The intermintent reception problem I'm not going to spend any money on trying to fix, I've done a little research. I'd rather put that money toward another legacy engine. Plus the sounds of legacy engines are much better than tmcc.

Well, the power board was replaced and the engine runs and operates as intended now. Since it a duplicate engine of one I already have, I will likely sell it.
I have another H16-44 project. This one is a NYC version with a conventional operating system. The engine needs some detail repair that will be done when my parts order from Lionel comes in.
That one will be listed too...

Tom Ah well, that's good news, I think. Well done on the diagnosis and replacement front.
Anyway, no point in keeping engines you never intend to run (although I have done that for years, mainly because I can't get around to selling them).
