Dave, yes, you do look better. But I’m sexier!!
Sometimes I wish I was born wealthy instead of so darn good looking.

(*In O Scale years) I’m confused. Does that mean you feel like you are about 2 years old or do we multiply by 48? Anyway, this gave me a good laugh! Thanks for that.

It just means that I am feeling even older than my very advanced years! I actually think of O scale as "quarter scale" for most modeling purposes so the multiple is 4 although it feels like 48.

Seems the majority are 50 and older. Maybe we should change the name to old gauge forum?

The demographics so far don't surprise. What it does say though is we really need to support the younger hobbyists. They are the future of this thing we all love.

At this point (47 votes) 83% of us are 50 and older. I find it very interesting that no one is in the 30-39 age group.

One thing I heard many times over when we have new friends over to visit, some with their kids and we go to the layout. They're impressed yes, as well as the kids. But the one thing, and its not lack of room or the desire I get, because some even mentioned putting one under the tree at Christmas, is the outlay to get started. Yes, a few did purchase a set, but those few that did when asked if they are enjoying the trains said they were broken or quit running. I know the trains of today aren't as rugged as those in the past.

I have no idea what it might be in other scales, esp. HO - traditional O gauge is a taste for the discerning (and nostalgic).
Oh, and I should have said, although we all know this, that a Forum is for the most dedicated enthusiasts, and so a poll amongst our members is bound to reflect a higher level of experience and engagement in the hobby.

I seriously considered going into HO before settling into "O" Gauge. Yes, probable nostalgic reasons.
