Anyone in 3rail modeling who has used Evan Designs LED products knows that they offer them in various voltage configurations, including versions that can be connected direct to AC track power. Just now I happened to see that they offer a separate rectifier unit that enables you to connect their 3 volt LEDs to track power: evandesigns.com/products/rectifier-for-leds?_pos=1&_sid=56050434d&_ss=r
This is actually a boon to kitbashers like me as I often end up with spare standard voltage LEDs that I want to connect to track power (in an engine or piece of rolling stock, for example). Well done again, Dave. Looks like another another order soon from me!
P.S. Now that I have had a chance to look at the Evan Designs site in more detail, I see that they have added a load of new things I have not seen before. These include lighting kits for die cast vehicles and even FREDs. Maybe things are finally looking up! Check them out: evandesigns.com/collections/hobby-leds

Thanks for letting us know about these new products. Custom LED lighting isn't something I've ventured into yet. My buildings came with stock lighting, most incandescent which I plan to replace with LEDs at some point. Evans will be a great source when I get to this project.

Harborbelt70, I just opened this post and gives me an opportunity to ask a question. I got a gift of a Lionel Lighted Covered Bridge(already assembled). The lights don't work directly from track power. Should they, or do they need to be rectified? I opened the top up and by feel, it seems that these LEDs may be mounted in circuits - implying that there is a diode/resister combo. Can you shed any light (pun intended) on the issue? Alfred (Since I did not want to mess with a return/ repair, I installed two screw base sockets at the entrance / exit - they illuminate when a train enters - green for in and red on exit. I have yet to install the parallel whistle shack.)

Alfred (Since I did not want to mess with a return/ repair, I installed two screw base sockets at the entrance / exit - they illuminate when a train enters - green for in and red on exit. I've worked out that the lighting requires a separate AC power supply. What you have detected by way of a lighting board suggests to me that it's a diode arrangement for the LEDs.
There's a blogger who describes the pains and perils of trying to assemble these models and he recommends a power supply other than a Lionel AC accessory power pack. I have always avoided Lionel's assemble-it-yourself products so I have no direct experience of this bridge. The blogger certainly does and his post is linked here:
