Personally I don't do online auctions. It's a shame thatCV-19 is here. If one could walk through the warehouse and purchase items like one does at York I would have made the trip.

Certainly seems like a final step to the end.

So if they are closing the doors permanently, and never making anything again, maybe I should be liquidating my stuff too?

If you like the MTH items you have, I would keep Them and run them. No need to sell them just because MTH is closing.

Just think of how popular K-Line became once they were gone.
I don't think the MTH story will go quite the same way though... What matters for us train guys is what happens to the tooling... The stuff in the building is Mike's, of course he's going to sell it and make a few more bucks.

So MTH is going to liquidate all this stock in one series of auctions? My guess is that it will go very cheap, effectively flooding the market with old MTH products.
I have kept up with past MTH bulletins about what they have 5 or less of in the warehouse and none of that stock appealed to me - just ends of particular runs that did not sell out.
The liquidation of other company property referred to - tech and historical documents and the like - surely spells the end of MTH as a major US-based manufacturer in all scales including HO, O and 1. I’m really not worked up about that from my own personal perspective; my only concern is the availability of some back up DCS products.
P.S. I just noticed that the auction flyer refers to “parts” as well as everything else. Not clear from this whether any single entity is going to be able to provide support/replacement parts for MTH products going forward.

Whenever an Auction House is used, you know the prices will be high for items.

"What matters for us train guys is what happens to the tooling"
Unless there is a business that wants to work with the folks that "have control" over them, I guess they are useless. Doubt the tooling is sitting on the shelves in Maryland.
