I just noticed the flag over casket is not a 50 star flag. Check it out Attachments:

Wow, that sounds like a big mistake.

That looks like the 48 star flag. Good catch.

Whoops. I did a search thinking they used the 48 star flag at some point, perhaps in honor of his WW2 service, when the 48 star flag was in use.
No photographic evidence showing that as the case. Interesting mistake....
MTH appears to have gotten their version correct....

Just another example of the lack of quality control.

Just another example of the lack of quality control. Agreed. Too many decisions are left in the hands of Chinese factory workers with no USA supervision. Just imagine if AnyCountry asks you to build something unique to their country, and you don’t have a blankin’ clue of that country’s history. So you find a flag on the Internet and blindly use it — without any sensitivity to the number of stars... or whatever the nuance happens to be. This happens more than we probably want to know.

How is the quality of the car? Did it arrive all in one piece?

My guess, you are spot on, David. I was going to express this in funnier terms, but it is really a serious matter.

How is the quality of the car? Did it arrive all in one piece? Yes, great quality car, minus the problem of the flag and in one piece. Its a shame. Its only for display. I wish my niece had gone for the MTH one instead. In fact I recommend it.

The Railking one that I have is the same thing. Some days I swear the same factory makes all these trains, and they just change the “welcome” sign depending on which company from the States is visiting the factory that week. LOL!!! 🤣

The Railking one that I have is the same thing. In other words, the MTH RK has the 48 star flag too? makes one wonder if Lionel and MTH are using the same production people or if they steal info from one another... Tom

I'm sure we don't know 1/10th of the stuff that goes on in overseas manufacturing nowadays. It's probably not even close to the terrific arrangement that the importers want us to think it's like.

Walter, the MTH Premier car has the correct flag as does the Railking. Good catch.
I looked at images again and realized the MTH products were good.
I stand corrected!
