I am a huge fan of Brooklin 1:43 scale models. If you want the best model vehicles for your layout, Brooklins are your best bet.
Recently, I purchased the FDNY Battalion Chief's Car from an eBay seller. When I received the model, I noticed the hood ornament was missing. Since there was a slot for it in the hood, it was very noticeable. I contacted the seller and asked him to check to see if it had come loose and if he might have it. He could not find it an offered to refund my payment. This is a very rare model (only 100 produced) and to me, sending it back was not the best option. So, I decided to contact Brooklin (in the UK) and within a few hours they wrote back and said a replacement was on the way, NO CHARGE. I received it today (in just over a week) and the model is back to mint condition.
What a terrific firm to work with. A great product and great service!

That is the mark of a good company that stands behind their products and goes above and beyond for their customers.

I’ve never dealt with Brooklin direct but I must say, that kind of service is indeed terrific.

Very nice cars, but a little too much for my pockets.

"Very nice cars, but a little too much for my pockets."
Denny, the retail price for Brooklin models can be high compared to other 1:43 scale models, but that is NOT the entire story. Many, many years ago at a train show, a seller had a table of very nice model cars. I picked up one that interested me and immediately noticed how heavy it was compared to other 1:43 scale models I had handled (maybe 3 to 4 times). The detail on this model was far superior to the other models the seller had on his table. This model was marked at $ 25.00 and I negotiated the price down to $ 10.00. After that, at every train show I attended, I looked for Brooklins and purchased several in the $ 10-30 range.
There are buys out there for Brooklins, you just have to look for them. They are worth the effort.

I'm about 50 miles from the state line. If I could get one for that price I may get two.

If I could get one for that price I may get two. I thought that you were staying home all summer. You should go to Saugatuck. My Brother was just complaining about the new carry out liquor rule. “All we will have are bikers, red necks, and red speed boats.” I told him to invite the governor. You have a PM. Check it out.

I most likely am going to stay home. I'm not very far from Saugatuck. I haven't been there in a awhile too many tourist. I had a friend that owned a store there with his wife I use to visit, but they got divorced and sold the store so I stopped going. My wife and I like eating at The Butler for our anniversary.
