One of my friends is uploading all the sound files for his use in the future. About 3 hours ago he was starting the PRR portion of the soundfiles.

This is JUST a thought not speculation. Mike is so willing to sell off the company in pieces, I'm wondering if they were bleeding red ink. A red ink company would be hard to sell intact. Another possible thought is that sellers of businesses often think it's really worth what they put into it rather than what a new owner will pay and get out of it themselves. So even if it's not a red ink situation, a seller might eventually decide they will take what they can get and let someone else have the headache of running the business. Either way I don't see the MTH brand and DCS being a major force in the hobby any more.

Several years back at the Amherst train show, a bunch of us were standing around talking to Marty Fitzhenry and he stated at the time Mike wanted I want to say 25-29 million for MTH. Don’t quote me on that. High for a model train company? Marty thought so.

I believe there's much more to this event than what we've heard so far. I'm heavily invested in MTH products, so I'm taking a 'wait and see' approach. It will probably be a year or more before we see how it all shakes out. The hobby will always progress, so I'm sure there will be some installation down the road for any locomotive failures. Time will tell. I'm predicting that ALL of my trains will last longer than I will in this world anyway.

A little birdie whispered in my ear that MTH's tooling was made in South Korea and MTH owns all of it. If this is true, and I'm pretty sure it is, new MTH trains and accessories can be made after Mike W. goes into retirement.

Bet the engines are Korea, rolling stock China but I’m not in front of my boxes. If from Korea, yeah thr tooling can go to the highest bidder.
