Has anyone purchased the latest Lionel 2 Truck shay? If so, have you had any mechanical issues. The previous run before had some issues with the eccentric cube piece not staying in place. Looking into get a shay.
Thanks

Personally, since they raised the price on these to over a thousand dollars, I still enjoy running my older TMCC one.

How different is it from the old 2 truck K-line Shay that I still own and enjoy? Probably a thread on this already?

The reason why is I would buy a TMCC mode but I want Dixiana (Roaring Camp) because I got a cab ride on her in 2018.

yes, they usually go up in a puff of smoke, its the motor driver board that goes. ERR is possible but remember its not an easy install because K line does not use the same tach reader around the flywheel. when I had it repaired, they said it was much easier to just replace with K line parts, so now its up for sale...

ERR cruise doesn't utilize a tach reader so that shouldn't matter. I would imagine you could rather easily gut the electronics and install a standard cruise commander if it physically fits in the locomotive. A cruise commander M kit might drop in, but that could be what they were referencing as not working with the K-Line electronics. I can't imagine why it wouldn't though if the shay has a standard TMCC board in it.

I'm still trying to get past $1000. For that kind of money it should put itself on the tracks and run on it's own.

Yes, mired in the details, all I know an ERR motor driver board replacement is not a drop in replacement if you want to keep the original sounds. I tried everything. I do recall that the reader electronics are not the same as the Lionel boards. All of it would have to be gutted. So keeping the repair under 150.00. The original motor driver board was used. Cruise commander M board could be used but the R2 board would have to be replaced too... plus if you want to do it right, you may as well add the detection off the flywheel... just a no win situation. K line boards w cruise were slightly different set up … the boards also had a programable 200 speed steps. Which crossed the Legacy technology and why Lionel came after them.

Maybe in a few years when someone sells theirs.
