While doing our most recent project for our layout, the Car Show, my very smart wife Elizabeth suggested that we have a sign next to each car in our Car Show. She reasoned that most who come to visit our layout might not know the year, make & model of each vehicle. I know most of this information, but certainly do not remember it all. So her idea seemed very appropriate. I then went looking for signs that we could modify. What I found were political lawn signs from a familiar supplier to me, Department 56. They are high quality and are all metal. Perfect for our application. So after a little paint and decals, we now have Car Show signs for all of the models that are in our Car Show. They will stand next to each vehicle. The base was painted black as the signs will stand on our black asphalt parking spaces. Before: After:

Forgot, the voting with the resulting winners will have these ribbons attached to the appropriate signs. Trophy also goes to Best in Show.

Elizabeth had a great idea. That is a much better use of the signs. đ

This is funny. I did not do this on my layout. But the losing politician never picked up his sign from my lawn so I made a thank you sign out of it. Attachments:

That is a fantastic idea. Thanks for sharing Elizabeth's idea with us. Something to consider having a car show at the park, which my hometown has every August and incorporating same on layout.

Don, now that is a "better" use of a political sign.

These look great. Nice job Elizabeth.
Elizabeth, please be careful though, when âgood ole C Tâ sees these, he is aâgonna be whisperin in Brianâs ear about how nice some billboard and signs like these would look advertising his worm Infested Christmas trees.
âHey PTC, lets make up sumthin like them old Burma Shave signs. We can also do sidewalk signs, street signs, bag signs that go over parking meters, billboards, and Iâll even get my ole pal with Miller Engineering to create a sign for displays atop buildings.
Soonâs the Night Before Christmas Hereâs a nice hint from me Fresh wreaths for the Mrs And a cheap Chinese tree
C T Trees
Well, whadda ya think?
And you can have a contest on the forum, â Remember the past, prize for the best slogan.â
Everybody who submits an entry gets $.25 off on their first purchase before October 30.â
As usual, the mayor is a part of the deal allowing C T and only C T to cover parking meters. He declared C T Trees to be an âessentialâ business. Gotta admit, the guy learns fast. Issue a decree and âpoofâ instant law to do anything.
Love the car signs though. Canât wait to see more pictures.
Where do you get the decals?
Thanks

Bill, CT did his best to have his new ride entered into this Car Show, but the entries had been closed. The CIC Car Show Committee would have none of it. Now, there is one thing, CT's new vehicle is beautiful and probably would have garnered many votes, but the rules are the rules. So no worries here, there is always next year's Car Show. This year's Car Show was so successful that the Committee has already announced plans for the 2021 Car Show next May. CT's remarkable Ride:
