Is anyone familiar with how the electro coupler is fastened to the truck on the Lion chief + NW2 loco? It is very loose and sagging. Also how do I remove the body shell if needed?

The screw is in the back. Then slip it of the tab in the front. The command board is fried on my NW2. I should get it fixed, but I was so pissed off I put it back in the box a put on a shelf and haven't looked at it since. I just bought it at York last October.
You might have to replace the truck.

Phil, I searched on line and couldn't find a definite answer to your questions. I don't have an NW2 but I'm pretty sure there are screws at each end of the locomotive just above the deck. Removing those two screws should be all that holds the shell in place.
I couldn't find anything on the drooping coupler.

Looks like the mount is part of the truck casting, and the drawing does show 3 as electromagnetic coupler.

Yeah, you could return it. Who knows what issues the next one will have? I have....never returned a model railroad locomotive for service. If I can't figure it out, they can't either. If the coupler works, just loose, might be the screw is loose. Easy to check, easy to fix. Compare the good one to the loose one.
I mean, I turn and smooth commutators, rebuild e-units, replace rollers, repair couplers....I have a letter in my old file cabinet from NASA stating that "this isn't rocket science".
Once you've done that, another barrier to what you think you are capable of falls. You aren't gonna void the warranty unless you start cutting wires.
