The Sunday Movie Matinee is a departure from the Layout videos I enjoy watching of other Model Railroader and also Department 56 Village creators. Sunday is day were I slow down and explore other Hobby related content. Some of these are longer, many, but not all are professionally done and frequently they show things I had not considered.
This weeks recommendation for the Sunday Matinee is about the General Motors Train of Tomorrow. The Train of Tomorrow was a marketing tool of GM's Electo-Motive Division (EMD). The gleaming blue-green all-dome-car train traveled throughout the United States and Canada on a 29-month tour to show people what rail travel could be like in a bold new post-war world
It's called: "The Streamlined, Modern Train of Tomorrow - 1948”. I hope you enjoy it and I hope you will recommend your favorite Sunday Movie Matinee.
Emile

Nice to see this again. That video was one of the resources used in deciding what color the 3rd Rail set should be painted. The decision was to do it more blue than green even though the author of the main book on the T of T insisted that the paint GM used was more like green/turquoise and he even had a DuPont color number. The blue in the film is probably the result of the original film aging. But I still like it as made in O scale.

And, we are proud to have 3rd Rail as a Corporate Sponsor.

3rd Rail did an excellent job on their GM TOT, but sadly mine became a victim of inevitable collection thinning efforts a few years ago. There are always limits to how many trains one can keep on the active roster. ... ALWAYS!!! At least I know mine found a good home. 😊

Modern Train of Tomorrow I love watching modern videos from the past It is fun to watch those videos, seeing what was modern at the time and I especially enjoy their predictions for the future. Occasionally they made a correct prediction but usually they are very wrong.
