healey36, I'd say your station building effort did way more than "Sorta worked". It compares very favorably to the stations from that period of toy train history like the Bing version below.

af3020 hey, thanks. It was another fun project (one not likely to be repeated, lol). The scrapbook section of the local Michael's craft store proved very handy for the one-sided corrugated and the embossed roof paper! Here's the station I used as a model, courtesy of the Worthpoint website; I can't remember if it's Marklin or Bing: I made a number of dimensional/design changes along the way, a major one being to include some interior walls along the "tunnel" (the original is just a big gaping opening): I installed a light in it, but I never finished the wiring. In the meantime, I found some rechargeable LED key-chain lights that I've used in other buildings...I should drop one of those in here and see how it looks. Here's an end-shot look of mine (sitting on the dining room table): Railing taken from an old ship model kit I had, and a handmade signal (manual operation).

My little "Pure Tinplate / Hornby Style" ACE Trains 4-4-2 E/2 LMS arrived today : I thought that it was a DC and AC operation, with remote direction latching relay, but this feature was installed in the E/1 series (like the EPO 4-4-4 I had in the past) but not in the E/2 series, like this 4-4-2 LMS, which is only a DC operation, with SBY switch. Adding to the confusion : the original documentation sheets coming with the locomotive both describes the E/1 and E/2 models... Moreover, I have a set of little nice and multi-colored Hornby wagons (like new... I think that these are reissues ?), but they seem to appear a bit small compared to the size of that ACE 4-4-2. It's not so dramatic nor unpleasant, but... ... What do you think, Guys ? OACE

That is a neat little engine! Thanks @adam ! But it seems nonetheless that the set of Hornby wagons in new condition (that was given to me) is a bit too small in size vs. the locomotive... OACE

Thanks @adam ! Maybe the next target would be USA (Lionel Postwar GG-1, 2065, 6026W, coaches, cars...) or will I stay with the UK (ACE, DARSTAED locomotives and rolling stock...) ? I don't know yet ! OACE

Those are 2 very nice engines, Oace. I don’t know about the size difference between the engine and the wagons as I’m not familiar with British trains. They look good to me.

Well yes @country Joe - Thanks ! I have been given this set of 6 wagons. These are recent reissues, I discovered that in the meantime. They are mint condition, but very light quality and weight, plus somewhat "tiny" compared to my ACE "Pure Tinplate" the 4-4-2 LMS. They would be more suitable for older / Toy-er stuff like this below, I guess : Nothing to do with the ACE coaches set "Teak LNER Gresley Corridor" that were delivered today for my ACE A3 LNER locomotive "Blink Bonny"... Very nice stuff, Oace. The 3 passenger car set is beautiful. 👍 Thank you @country Joe ! An Old-Guy-Train-Model-Man told me that 3 wasn't enough, and that I should increase to 5 or 6... Today I received some ACE freight wagons : These are lovely... Alongwith my bunch of tracks from Menards : As the pins on those brand new tracks have some backlash in their tubular rails, I was well advised to keep my Tinplate-tightening pliers to correct this ! healey36 : each time I browse that subject, I see your cute-colored train stations ... Again : congratulations for your tasty building effort ! OACE

Thanks for the kind words, OACE; I’m always up for a fun project. And you are right... I very like your style, and even noticed that you made one station with nameplates in French : excellent ! Very skilled, indeed ! Just for the fun : the railway station of Chasse-sur-Rhône, before WWII, a few kms from my home... OACE

ACE Trains seems to make (or made) some very nice items. I've never heard of them before this thread.
