Here is my video, not much scenery going on, but I'll get there. Andy Thanks for the video tour, Andy. The video makes it easy to see how the layout will operate. So many of your scenes remind me of home, especially Locust Valley. đź‘Ť

Hello, I thought I would post several videos showing the Trolley Park created over several years. The first one here is just after I got the overhead re-installed and energized. I had this loop operational but had not allowed for proper pole spacing so when I went from a simple 4 wheel Birney type trolley to a multi-truck type Brill, the units would hit the poles. Hey, that NMRA gauge is needed on 3 rail at times too. So I took all the poles but three out, added a few more and reworked all the overhead. I would then just watch that old Bowser unit run around the loop. I will post a few more of the more or less finished project plus maybe a Christmas decorated area. Thanks for your time. Great video, and thank you for posting.

Yes, Andy I want to say I like how you focused you layout on a prototype and kept the train modeling targeted. It is well done and I like your approach. BTW can we see some trains running? I waited through the whole video hoping to see you fire one up

You've created a very nice little layout.

Okay below are links to my Trolley Park. Here is what you get: A poor quality video that shows the pretty much completed park. There are four Lionel animated accessories installed. Now that was quite a hoot as I had to cut through 1/2" homosote from above, like over the overhead lines to install them. I did this so I could blend these into the ground level. I was pleased at how they came out. The swing set is always pleasant to watch for me. I put a separate on-off control on the "tug-of-war" as the sound of that one bugs even me if left on too long. youtu.be/pRo3tsD6AHEA better quality video that shows my first completed Labelle Traction Motor kit. It was a challenge for me. I was politely dissed by a knowledgeable traction fan who knew that the LSE (Lake Shore Electric) was known as the orange line since their stock was painted that color. I can agree but I will note that a lot of these units when first constructed came out dark green. It was later that it was noted that orange certainly made them more visible to other traffic. This was the same kit that was bashed to make that CNS & MRR line car 606 that I posted elsewhere earlier. You can appreciate the difference when looking at this baby. youtu.be/hMW_tgEmIxMAnd finally THE 606 is action again. I do love this car! Sorry........................ www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XTJi6kRXWwOkay for now. I will post a couple of older videos of Christmas on the other part of the layout tomorrow. Take care, Jim K

Walter, Gary, Adam, George, Brian, Forrest, and Bill, I’m humbled by your responses, and I want to thank you all for the kind words and support. Seeing all of your posts and layouts motivates me each day. John, I have a point-to-loop, so I have to figure out how to run something and film at the same time! I’ll try to work that out and post a video with some action. Joe, that’s what I’m shooting for. A happy reminder for folks who know Long Island, but at the same time show familiar scenes that everyone can enjoy. Forrest, I have access on the other side of where the loop is, so if something derails I can get to it fairly easily. Bill, I knew you would appreciate the plaster kit mishap. When this virus is behind us, anyone and everyone is welcome to come by and visit.

Jim,
The trolley park is great! Very creative work for a smaller space. The 606 is indeed a neat trolley car.
I also noticed that you added a building to the park. Tell us more about that.

Jim, I enjoyed the videos. Your trolley layout is a gem. It is small and simple but there is so much to see. đź‘Ť

Jim, The trolley park is great! Very creative work for a smaller space. The 606 is indeed a neat trolley car. I also noticed that you added a building to the park. Tell us more about that. First off: thanks to all for the supportive comments on the overhead. I am not sure just how I became intrigued with world of trolleys and traction but I am. I tell you it took months and months to even be ready to install the system. I got the poles from Rivers Traction along with numerous widgets that were needed. Probably spent 6 months putting them together. It was so nice that Jim Rivers gave me a completed pole so I would have a template. And when the figuro hit the mix master on the pole spacing I used every pole I had AND the one from Jim! Adam, I think you are talking about the Trolley Park Office and Service building? That came about due to the local NMRA fellows asking for some paper buildings to be presented at a meet/meeting. But they were looking for real paper, paper buildings. What I made was not quite that so I didn't submit it but I had a great time making the building. I used 1/4" strathmore board for the walls and roof. I got thin cardboard sheets of building walls which are pretty neat. You can put them together as you wish: dock doors (which are there but face the adjacent track); windows, entrance doors etc. I glued cut sheets to the board for the walls, etc. I did take particular care on the roof. Since I did not want any warping to occur no water based glues were used to attach anything. Inside the building is an MTH trolley and an old 060 locomotive! Seems like they were always in that spot just naturally so I enclosed them a bit. Less mess around the park.
