I want to add another level of protection in the form of
circuit breakers between the track & the TIU
Any suggestions ?

TVS protection diode 1500W 33.3V TVS at Digikey. Dirt cheap.
Airpax Magnetic Circuit Breakers are less expensive than the PSAX at about 25 bucks I think.
These are John Will's suggestions.

Let’s just say John and I have a difference of opinion on this. My take is you spend 2500 bucks on an engine don’t go cheap on the protection, you get what you pay for. PSX being microprocessor control is a lot faster than and CB plus the transorbs are built in.

I decided to go with 2 of the DCC Specialities PSXX-AC
Tony's Trains is currently out of stock
but their website allowed me to place the backorder.

Man I talked them just a couple of months ago. They sold out fast. I would also get the add on sonalert, but the trains not moving might be enough of a indictor something up.

i just emailed them asking to have 2 of the sonalerts added to my order when it ships.
