Hi all, so I made the wonderful decision of preordering 18 RMT ore cars without the slightest thought as to what to pull with them. Looking back at thier website I see they made a pair of matching beeps and thought it'd be a perfect fit. I've located one and am searching for the other.
What did get myself into and how do I update them to a current standard of running. I've read that one SHOULD be able to drag around about ten cars so I think the 18 ore cars plus caboose should be doable. I've also read that these little buggers are rather quirky with their coupler issues small electrical footprint and other minor issues. Now when I got digging into command control things got fuzzy, I see that the purpose built conversion is no longer produced and that a board out of a lionel TMCC speeder would work nicely. Unfortunately that board is sold out. Being that true TMCC looks out of the question I began to look elsewhere for a solution short of buying lionel speeders and stealing parts out of them. I stumbled upon the cheapo 'Lionel junction' train sets and began to wonder if boards could be purchased or harvested out of those locomotives to achieve some form of an upgrade going from conventional to lion chief? Would this work? And assuming I'm running the two together I'd be using two identical boards correct? Any thoughts or input would be welcome, -Adam

I received quite an excellent deal on a Thomas and Friends Diesel. Such a good deal, that I bought two of them. Not that I really like Diesel, but so I could use the LionChief boards as donors for my old conventional Beeps. Some years ago, I purchased two NJT RMT Beeps. Because they are conventional, they spent a lot of time on the shelf. Now that I have installed two exact match LionChief boards inside each engine, one remote control operates both engines as a perfect (pick your preferred name) Double Head, MU, Lashup, Consist.
