Hey all! Living in Maryland, I had a chance to visit a Menards in Forest Lake, Minnysota. If this is a typical sized Menards, it really dwarves a Home Depot! And of course, I checked out the train aisle. It was being stocked...there were all the buildings one could ask for...tubular track.. Wow!

Yeah, as a hardware store, Home Depot is fine with me, but as a fellow Marylander, I, too, look forward to the day when Menards expands into the East Coast. It'd be really nice to have a "big box" model train depot to visit! *sigh*

Menards are the perfect way to get into 3-rail at ground level, aren't they? My closest Menards is in MN too - I check it out now and again (always leaving with something!). I find some stores can be hit-and-miss on what they stock, so online seems to be the best bet. www.menards.com/main/grocery-home/menards-collectibles/train-stuff-from-menards/c-14331.htmSince the Menard family business itself is based in Wisconsin, maybe the flagship store has all the goodies, but who knows. Menards makes some nice trains. I have some box cars, flat cars, A few Buildings. The quality has been much improved over the years. I even have a set of the F units and they have been great. They run very well, have decent sound. Living on the east coast I doubt I'll ever get to one of their stores especially at my age. Would love to see one though!

We have 3 Menards all within 30 miles of my home. Been to all 3 numerous times, the aisles and merchandise location are identical in all 3. The train stuff seems to sell very well in all 3 stores.

I think Menard’s may be the last best hope for O-gauge. The rest of the manufacturers are pricing themselves beyond the reach of the general public (those with any interest).

Menard's makes some nice model train products and even better buildings. There are no Menard's stores in Southern California but if you've seen one big box store, you've seen them all. I've bought a lot of O gauge stuff from them without all the hassle of getting out of my recliner and walking all the way to the car. I just use my desktop or iPad and they deliver the items right to my doorstep! Just tonight I ordered the new Custard Stand.
When it arrives I'll have to let my wife know so she can go get it outside the front door for me.
