Looks like Mike Wolf of MTH will be at Pat's Trains on Nov. 9th from 11am-3pm. There will be a demonstration of the ALL-NEW DCS WTIU and WiFi App. For those attending who wish to have their older TIU's updated with the latest DCS Software (2017 Version 6.10) bring your TIU and the upgrade will be performed for free. This is all very interesting. I believe Mike is getting back into the game. I hope so.....

I doubt he is getting back into the game full time. I just think he is helping out a friend with the new technology coming online. It would be nice if he did come back but I just think he does not want to.

Mike still has his name on the product being released so I would think that he has an invested interest that the product meets his and the MTH customer base expectations. Since the break up of MTH into separate divisions they certainly have been able to release a significant amount of product. A lot of naysayers have stated that the MTH brand will not survive under this business model, time will tell.

The visits are 2 fold. He is introducing his son in laws to the dealers so they are familiar with him. He's still obviously pretty proud of DCS and is doing his part in getting it into the publics hands but also as I said to introduce his son in law to the masses and store owners.
He was at York and is very enthusiastic about DCS and the products. He was very engaging even when I asked about Base3 and the new WTIU connecting.

Is his son-in-law involved in the business? Just curious.

I will be heading over to Pats Trains tomorrow to watch the demo of the WTIU by Mike Wolf. Should be interesting to see it in operation.

A lot of naysayers have stated that the MTH brand will not survive under this business model, time will tell. Bill In one of the Trainworld videos a few months ago Mike mentions that the current MTH business model of custom and limited runs is what brought him back into the game. He said sales have been better than ever.
One drawback that has been talked about before is that it’s difficult to plan what to buy when you don’t know what’s coming in the near future.

If he's back in the game, perhaps a few future tinplate items will emerge.

Man it was forever ago I met Mike at a big show and we talked about his just offered Berkshire. The MTH endeavor was really ready to roll. Of the truckload of nice bulletproof locomotives here, mostly steam, they are his. It’s good to hear his insight on the present,..and see his continued involvement, and his system development.
Yea hey, how about reinstating that old waiting list and grandfather me in on one of the standard gauge articulateds. Still hoping..

You can only play so much golf, and go on so many vacations; and then what? Mike is still relatively young and still appears to have an interest in the model train business. Maybe the BTO model piqued his interest in new possibilities for the business. If he is bringing his son in law in to the business, it indicates that Mike will be involved in some form or fashion for a good while. The more the merrier!

Yea hey, how about reinstating that old waiting list and grandfather me in on one of the standard gauge articulateds. I had a pre-order in on one of those...crushed when they canceled it.
