Anyone seen the Carol Towne Christmas collection at Lowe's yet this year? I think they look pretty nice and seem to be priced very well. They aren't Dept56 but for those on a budget I think they are worth considering.

Just the pictures on the web site. Look nice enough to consider. May I also suggest you look at Lemax various Christmas Villages. They match up very well with Dept 56 even though they switched to resin years ago.
EHobbyTools in Huntington Valley PA is IMO the place to go for best price and service. Michaels also has some exclusive Lemax items that you may want to check out.
Great fun especially if you go with an automated building with sound and music.

Most of my stuff is Lemax and Dept56 but lately I only buy on the after holiday sales or eBay. Even Lemax has gotten expensive. Not sure what has gotten worse the houses/accessories or the trains. lol.

I agree that they have a lot of nice buildings this year. I'd also recommend checking out this year's selection of St Nicholas Square at Kohl's. There are some nice buildings there as well this year, including the unique motel. One thing I've always liked about this line are the big windows in the front showing what is going on inside.
I looked Menard's buildings and while they have a lot of them, they are of poor quality once again with sloppy paint jobs and lack of detail.
I've lost interest in Lemax in the past few years as they all look dull to me. The detail is there, but they are not the bright buildings I want in my Christmas display. More and more I'm being allured back to the older ceramic style.

I'd also recommend checking out this year's selection of St Nicholas Square at Kohl's. I didn't realize Kohl's was still producing/selling this line, so thanks for the heads-up. I had a few pieces years ago, including a really nice small station. Sold most of it in the great purge a while back, but now the interest has been slightly rekindled.
