On Ebay, a Lionel 6-85175 Halloween USRA Pacific engine in new/other condition sold for $3,250. Ghoulish! That oughta keep the shysters salivating. Imagine a $1,400 MSRP locomotive going for more than a Halloween Vision Triplex (which are admittedly sold out at many dealers now)!!! Next week somebody's gonna have a bad case of buyer's remorse.

You have to wonder if this is one of the completists collectors? IMO the paint schemes of the Halloween items offered by Lionel keep getting better and better especially in O scale. The Triplex was/is OK, the F-19 is killer with that Vandy tender and that spooky paint job. For my money Lionel will have a hard time topping that Halloween/Christmas engine unless the decoration correction is a disaster.

To get back to the original OP, I found the listing for these cars of rockymountaineers desire. The seller was showing a total of 4 cars in two pack configurations. Two sets of two different cars (unless Lionel printed two different descriptions on the box end flaps). I inquired if the $950.00 price with sales tax and shipping added was for 2 cars or 4 cars. The reply was the price was for the cars in the listing photo.
So you have photos which indicate that there are 4 different cars in two pairs. You indicate that there are 2 available. But in actuality there is only 2 pairs of the same two cars available?!
Is gibberish a recognized language? Is ignorance an asset? Is misinformation and obfuscation now risen to an art form even in the sales of stuff?
I used to wonder at my older relatives saying that they felt as though they had outlived their time.
The meaning is all too clear to me now.

But in actuality there is only 2 pairs of the same two cars available?! ... The listings are not only confusing... they are INACCURATE. Can't tell if that's deliberate... or if this seller is clueless. This is not a train store per se, but rather it also sells toys and video games among other items. If you "google" the sellers name, you'll find a YouTube hit by a guy who's clearly a video game enthusiast walking through the store.
One listing shows ONE 2-pack is available. But it's listed as Midnight Special Pack #3, which is catalog'd as a coach and observation. Then the listing title and the pictures show a coach and a baggage car. No observation. Hmmmmm....
And the second listing shows TWO 2-packs are available. It's labeled as Midnight Special Pack #2, which the listing title indicates is a coach and observation. But the pictures show a coach and a combine car.
The whole thing is a mess. It would be like one of us selling women's jewelry... We wouldn't know what the heck we’re talking about. I often wonder about places like this.
Look at the Lionel catalog page below for the proper descriptions of the different 2-pack SKU's along with the single StationSounds Diner...

Regardless it looks like the wood sided cars are going to miss Halloween too.
