I am fascinated by these restored and unique steep "trains". I rode a cog railroad in Hong Kong years ago, very steep up to the top of the peak. This one is much more accessible.

I've ridden the incline in Pittsburgh a couple times. It's pretty interesting, and there's a terrific view of the city from the top. My understanding is that it was built to transport workers from the neighborhoods down to the mills along the river. A lot of neat history there.

There is a great cog railway at the Masonic Village train layout. Takes up almost a whole wall in the back of the O Gauge section.

The Pittsburgh inclines have an amazing view of the city and are a great way to commute to work. Back in the day they had one that would transport you and your car/horse/wagon at the same time.
