FYI - For those that use the Lionel IR sensor tracks, that add on IRV2 Sensor sleds are now available at the Lionel Store. The are showing to be on sale for $29.99, still not cheap, but I believe the main sensor board can handle up to 4 sleds. Only two come with the original product. These items seemed to never be released to the local hobby shops.
Get em now if interested.

I tried them and couldn't make them fit correctly with my Ross sectional track, so I gave up and sold the lot.
Now that Lionel is re-issuing them again, best to contact your dealer and have them place a order.

Here lies a problem I have with Lionel. They have these pretty cool systems such as the IRV2 and even the other LCS products but really never demo them or incorporate them into their displays. Dave Olsen made a cool stand the last few years Lionel attended York but before that I think only one other time did they have a layout with the LCS stuff running. People have no idea what to do with some of those items. I always wanted them to do a layout with LCS components and have an iPad with LCS running on it, mirrored into a large monitor. Just have the trains run and have the LCS show what the components are doing. When an engine crosses the sensor track it will show that. When an accessories is triggered or a switch thrown show that. Then people will ask questions. I think the IRV2s would have done better if folks understood what they can do with them. Much like the sensor track, they can be a mystery until you actually start to use and experiment with them.

Agree 100% but if the IRV2 wont fit in your track system without derailing your train, what's the point of them. I only know the IRV2 wont fit with Ross track. Would like to know if it works for Gargraves, AtlasO. Sure it will work with O-27, won't work for SuperO as I tried.
Anyway, definitely need for promotion of these neat ad on for your layout.

I'm not sure which track system they use but the Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club in Parkersburg, WV use IRVs exclusively on the O Gauge layout. I helped wire them in when they first started using them. They revamped the O Gauge layout recently and were happy that Lionel is making them again.

Definitely works with Gargraves! I have them in use on my traditional flextrack layout.
