About 45 days before York in October and again in April the posts start to appear on various forums giving us the countdown, weather, breakfast get-togethers and other group and individual meet ups associated with the event. The anticipation of the expected enjoyment is palpable in the initial posts and the responses.
At first the posts are a drip with a smarty pants or two chiding the OP about it being too early to predict the weather let alone consider what to have at the morning breakfast. But soon the posts and updates increase as time draws nearer and weather reports and menu options become more accurate. Is it too late to get a room at York?
What a gift this camaraderie is to each and ever one of the recipients of this shared friendship.
I wish that everyone one could experience the generosity of spirit that such a simple thing as a model train hobby can produce among its' hobbyists.
If from time to time you are feeling a little dispirited with the travails of your life, look in the mirror and remind yourself that no matter what you have your band of train brothers who care about you.
And remember York is only ever 6 months away.

It’s a train thing!
They are what bring us all together. Most of us have joyful childhood memories that involved toy trains that stick to us for a lifetime. Sharing that feeling finds common ground for many. I’ve gotten into train conversations at public shows with people I stood next to looking at a layout. And it felt like we knew each other forever.
We the Ones!

Really nice words and descriptions of mine, and 100s of other peeps feelings. It's a hobby of little or no competition, acrimony...instead some regressive ( for my age) tomfoolery. Well done runamuck and traindiesel!!
