Tell us more about these chassis swaps you’re You already know this Gary, but for those that don’t, Kline’s beautiful scale Hudson is arguably the best detailed Hudson on the market, right up there with brass models, ….in fact, it surpasses some brass manufacturers. The Achilles Heel of the Kline Hudson is its underwhelming driveline. To cut costs as much as possible, Kline used a small Mubachi 385 instead of a large motor. If you’re going to pull any kind of real train, she’s gonna croak,…there’s always somebody that swears it’ll pull 5-6 heavies with out issue, but that’s about all she’s gonna handle stock, and not for any length of real time either,…..hence the Kline/MTH chassis swap. By adding one of the most rugged built Hudson chassis on the die cast market today, the MTH chassis with its large powerful Pittman motor not only makes the locomotive 10 times more powerful, it actually adds weight to the locomotive…..well over 1.5lbs. of weight….this makes the Kline Hudson a true beast, with power to spare!….10 heavyweights??…no problem, ….how about 10 GGD’s ….up a grade,….for hours,….no problem….

Pat,
Your right about the K-line hudson. The best then and still the best detailed hudson out there. I have one that I bought new and it runs great but pulling power could be better with a larger motor. I usually run freight with it, A string of 7 or 8 40' jade green box cars.
Maybe one day I'll send it to you for the upgrade but for now I'll run it and enjoy it.
