FYI folks,
Lionel announced a new website: lionel125.com that will feature everything related to the company's 125th anniversary throughout 2025.
In addition, Ryan & Dave have a Vision Line show scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday, 10/2) at 3:30PM EST. Will they be announcing a 125th Anniversary Vision Line offering??? Right on the heels of the Triplex delivery.

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. 125 years? Hmm sounds like another gold Berkshire?

I don't think *they* will be making the announcement. My gut says the announcement will happen earlier in the day. Would be cool if they actually did announce it, live, during the show. Stu

Maybe a York meet timed announcement like they did back in the day? Nah, Lionel burnt the York bridge a few years back ...

Where life is beautiful all the time And you’ll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats When they're coming to take you away, ha-ha!
To the happy home With trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes When they're coming to take you away, ha-haaaaaa!!

As far as Lionel burning bridges at York, it takes 2 to tango!

As far as Lionel burning bridges at York, it takes 2 to tango! I've stated many times the Eastern Division is partly to blame for Lionel not attending. Frankly when I attended York I never visited Lionel or MTH. Mad house around their displays. I've always talk to Lionel at the Amherst show.
Does Lionel not attending stop anybody from going? I don't think so.

Here ya go!!! The venerable Hudson J1e is it… and seems nostalgically appropriate for those who’ve been around the hobby for awhile. Lots of variations too… and potentially a custom-run or two. catalogs.lionel.com/2024/VL/?

Question, why not use the far better K-Line tooling instead of the old tired 1937 tooling? I have enough Hudsons anyway but for 1800 bucks retail. Whooaa

Whooaa There’s certainly nothing “novel” about this offering that appears to warrant the Vision Line badge. But it tugs on the nostalgia element, and that might just be enough for many folks… myself included.
HOWEVER, the concern I’m having with Lionel offering so many variations centers around the accuracy of the illustrations in the brochure. Subtleties like smoke box color and satin vs. glossy paint finish don’t always represent what the factory will actually produce.

Yeah you can't go one what's online sadly. It's a Hudson, it will sell

The Ryan & Dave show lasted only a brief 15+ minutes and walked through the new Vision Line Hudson announcement. No mention of any other Vision Line locomotives -- not even the recently delivered Triplex models.
All in all, they did a nice job. Unfortunately, I was technology challenged today... and YouTube was fighting with me. For some reason, I had forgotten that I need to use Safari in order for YouTube to recognize my account/channel. I was using Firefox at the time, and it wasn't playing nice with YouTube... so I couldn't comment or participate in the real-time chat.
Only after the show ended, did I remember to use Safari... and I was then able to leave a comment on the YouTube video. But I missed the opportunity to post the comment when Ryan asked for questions from the audience. Timing!!! And technology... ughhh!!!!!
All is not lost though... as I believe Trainworld is also hosting an announcement "live" event with Ryan and Dave in mid-October. So perhaps I'll get my thoughts posted then... and see if Ryan responds. I wanted to remind them to ensure the red/gray Pacemaker Hudson doesn't use the chalky, primer-looking gray color on the smokebox. IMHO, that really cheapens the look of an otherwise finely scaled model. The recently delivered Mountains and Triplexes avoided that mistake. So hopefully the Pacemaker Hudson gets an appropriate gray finish on its smokebox as well. We shall see.
On a somewhat related note... Ryan did mention some dealers have already been considering a custom-run or two... So stay tuned, before placing those pre-orders too soon!!!

I have a few things already on order so I'm not sure what I'll do about ordering a Hudson. I'd like one but I think I may wait until they come in as I'm sure dealers will order extras. Let's see what the custom run are. Maybe someone will do a NYC with a magnetized "Lionel Lines" to go over like the 844 from years back. I agree David the Pacemaker has to have the correct gray to make it worth the VL name.
