From time to time Cab3 and Base3 will be updated. I am starting this thread to put all the listed updates in one place. I added a link to the Base3 System Utility.

Cab3 Version 1.1.029

Release date: 9/17/24

This release fixes the following:

*APP crash on iOS if BLE is off

*APP crash during loco start-up

*APP crash when clearing accessory

*APP crash when pressing ACC multiple times

*APP crash in multiple ways when Base3 database is empty

*APP crash in TRAIN builder when pressing “remove”

*APP stuck sending repeated commands (accidental swiping)

*Buttons for up/down/left/right swipes – left/right swipes are disabled until a future update

*Change how locos are addressed and started

*Remove control type “LionChief” and sound types “LionChief and RailSounds RC”

*Database clear not removing images

*TMCC engines – sending absolute speed commands

*TMCC Steam – water fill & blowdown commands

*RPM commands for engine & trains not matching Cab2

*Roll – brake sounds only when holding button

*Diesel run level to zero when pressing reset

*Rule 17 auto mode

*EFX buttons on Legacy steam

*Correction in preset dialog for StationSounds Diners

*Accessory throttle action improved

*TMCC Acela controls (Cab1 mode)

*Crane car controls (Cab1 mode)

Bugs still to be worked on (high-level only):

*Using TR for transformers

*Multiple momentum fixes

*Multiple throttle position errors

*Train Brake issues

*4-Digit engine brake

*TMCC Trains

*Database backup and restore (local)

*R100 control type

*Maintain Wi-Fi connection when phone screen times out

Base3 Firmware

Release Notes:

*Correct spelling error in BLE internal database

*Fixed direction toggle speed reset in BLE loco

*Allow BLE config updates needed for B3SU

*Allow RF config updates needed for B3SU

*Fix BCM to support base record writes needed for B3SU

*Add BTMAC address to ID2 database and ID4 database records for ESB protocol

*Change ID4 database management to use BTMAC to prevent duplicate entries

*Add additional decodes to echo over Wi-Fi to sync Cab2 and Cab3

*Correct sensor track update from clearing speed graph on user recording

*Add ESB readback for Road/Num/TSDB on ID2 “SET” to update Cabs

*Fix throttle updates on Cab2 that tended to cause speed graph to hop around

Additional notes:

*Base3 Version 1.26 is REQUIRED for using the Base3 System Utility (B3SU)

*No changes to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth firmware. Below versions are still current.

Thanks! I always wonder if the videos help. I appreciate any feedback both positive and negative. While I certainly don't have the reach that many YouTube folks do, and that's fine with me, I am grateful when I can help someone out.

Just FYI Cab3 App version 1.1.035 is available. We don't know much about it but it does add the ability to vary the time needed to hold the HALT button before it triggers from .3 seconds all the way to 3 seconds. This way it's almost instant or anywhere up to 3 seconds.

Lionel released another Base3 Firmware update. Unfortunately with the current App version, it won't connect correctly to do the upgrade. It does connect fine for normal operation. The first 2 IMO are more relevant to the operator.

The release includes the following...

Base3 Firmware 1.28

Release Notes:

Bluetooth sub-system

**When monitoring “SET” command, do not clear B3 database entry if no BLE loco paired on this address
**Convert Legacy “SET” command to TMCC1 SET command so decoder will process all pairing requests

RF sub-system

**When monitoring “SET” command, do not clear B3 database entry if no RF loco paired on this address

**Convert Legacy “SET” command to TMCC1 SET command so decoder will process all pairing requests

Modify PDI port controls

*Create API command processing and logic to reallocate PDI port board ID assignment ranges and enables

*Major changes to restructure the port allocation relative to PING/board IDs

*skip sending echoes between PDI ports keeping traffic lower in the PDI port processing

*skip sending internal PDI command requests out over the PDI ports

*Blink PDI power LED if the port does not have board ID allocation for modules connected

**Fix record locking on 4-Digit info requests

*Fix ID2/ID4 lookup sequencers to reset state machine if a record is locked, otherwise subsequent lookups may fail

**Fix potential for buffer overflow; fix missing fields

*when reading module data length, limit size of data transfer to buffer size

*initialize the PMID and BTMAC fields properly on restore from module

**Skip Serial EnQueue when queue is disable

*to improve system throughput, do not add processing for queues that are not active, stopping queue overflows
